ID help needed on parasite.

Submitted by Sylvie_h on

I found this pupae of Episyrphus balteatus on one on the Teasels in my garden. I put it in a jar and to my surprise after about 4 weeks, this tiny little parasitic wasp  (please correct me if I am wrong) emerged from it. Can somebody help me with the identification of this parasite ? At which moment in its development was the host parasitised ?

Thanks a lot

Sylvie

In spite of the dark stigma I thought the inverted 'U' on the pleurae meant this must be Nephrotoma appendiculata.  However it was at Hexton Chalk Pit (VC 20) on 25 June 2014, which is rather late according to Stubbs (2021) (April to early June).  Posted pics on Facebook Cranefly Group page and am advised that blunt cerci rule out appendiculata, suggest analis?  Keys to that species in Stubbs but dorsal stripe on abdomen is wide (should be narrow) and location doesn't seem right.  Overnight quadrifaria has become the Facebook favo

hey all. i found this Siphona in my kitchen window 31/7 Denmark (DANIA.NEJ.NJ96)

its about 5mm, and it looks like geniculata due to 4 dc after suture, and bright/light brown/yellow tegula and basicosta.
