Cranefly Volunteer ID Day
Want to have some time to look at specimens? Need access to some ID resources you don’t have? Need access to a microscope? Or simply looking for an opportunity to brush up on some fundamental entomological skills? This day is for you.
Identifying and Recording Craneflies
This residential course incorporates everything you need to know to be able to accurately identify and record craneflies.
With a mix of classroom presentations, laboratory-based sessions, and field-based activities, our expert tutor will guide you through the lifestyles, ecology, and morphology of UK craneflies. Attendees will be provided with detailed information on sampling equipment and techniques with practical hands-on opportunities to collect live specimens.
Cranefly Identification with Microscopes: Species
There are around 350 cranefly species in the British Isles, many of which require microscopic examination in order to reliably identify to species. This course will take you to the next step, providing you with the skills you need to be able to start identifying craneflies to genus and species using a microscope.

Changes to the Dipterists Day programme
The programme for this year's Dipterists Day event on Saturday November 20th has been updated.
Apologies from Pete Boardman who, due to other pressures, finds himself unable to participate in this year's event, and welcome to Roger Morris, who will be speaking on the topic of Insect decline.
