Two full cost bursaries announced for DF Spring 'Dolis' ID Workshop

If you are interested in learning more about flies and are thinking of attending the Preston Montford Field Studies Centre Dolichopodidae identification workshop in March 2027 (details here) we are delighted to announce that the Dipterist Society has generously offered two full cost bursaries that will include food and accommodation as well as the workshop. Two places including accommodation and food have already been reserved for the successful applicants.

The Dipterist Society is an international organisation dedicate to the study and understanding of true flies (Diptera), representing dipterists from around the globe. Information on the Dipterist Society can be found here

Your application should say what you hope to gain from attending, how you would expect to contribute to the Dipterists Forum’s and the Dipterist Society's aims of studying, recording and conservation of Diptera, and why you would benefit from financial assistance. If you are
currently involved in a research programme, please include brief details. We will be looking for evidence of enthusiasm
and interest in flies. Preference may be given to those who have not received a bursary previously. Applications should not
exceed 300 words. Successful applicants will be expected to write a short account of their experience at the workshop for the Dipterist Forum's publication the 'Bulletin' and the Dipterist Society's 'Fly Times'.

Applicants must be members of the Dipterists Forum at the time of their application  (from £8 per annum - details here). The closing date for applications is December 31st 2026.
