Dipterist Forum launches training webinar series

The Dipterists Forum have teamed up with the Biological Recording Company to deliver live, Diptera related training webinars.

This is the second webinar in the series and runs on 24th November 2026 from 6pm to 7.30pm and are part of the Biological Recording Company’s ‘Skills for Ecology’ series.

Learn how to process, preserve and manage fly specimens for recording, research and reference collections. Flies (Diptera) are one of the most diverse and ecologically important groups of insects, playing vital roles as pollinators, decomposers, predators and indicators of environmental health. Yet collecting specimens is only the beginning; proper processing, preservation and recording are essential if specimens are to retain their long-term scientific value.

Courses of this nature usually cost £12.50, but with a code used when purchasing, there is a £2.50 discount that is exclusive to Dipterists Forum members. Members please contact dipteralin@gmail.com for the code, thanks.  DF membership starts from just £8.00 per year so these webinars alone will save you £5.

We think this series is an excellent opportunity for people to start to learn the key skill sets needed to successfully survey for and manage Diptera collections. Please help us spread the word by letting anyone you think may be interested know. Thank you!
