Steven Falk continues to add to his brilliant collection of Diptera photos on Flickr. The latest additions are:
They follow the usual pattern, with photos of living flies where available, then photos of pinned specimens and the details of these, to create a virtual museum collection using clear photos of good specimens.
Steven says:
"This is Phase 1 i.e. using all I have to hand. Luckily I have a pretty good collection. Phase 2 will involve visiting museum collections to fill in the gaps. If you have any specimens that can help fill gaps I'd love to borrow them (contact me via this form). I've also got three visits to Scotland planned this summer which should bring about encounters with new species. Remember that if you keep clicking on the photos they get bigger and can reveal good detail. There are also drop-down species accounts, and often useful notes attached to individual photos."
