This Chorisops appeared normal when taken on 21 August 2021 in Bedfordshire. The next day it was almost entirely covered in fungus. Cleaned up a bit I think it is C. tibialis?, although Theo Zeegers has said via Diptera.info that he thinks it is too yellow for that. The alternative would be the less common C.nagatomii. The amount of yellow on the tergites doesn't seem to be enough for that species when compared with figures and photos in British Soldierflies 2nd edn by Stubbs and Drake . I have tried to compare the specimen with the figures for terminalia in Speight's 1981 paper in the Irish Nationalists Journal, Vo 20 No 8. but without coming to a conclusion.
Can anyone confirm which species I have from these photos please?
