New project to record carrion-feeding flies

The Calliphoridae and Rhiniidae Recording Scheme covers blowflies and relatives, including the 'greenbottles' and cluster flies. This year they are embarking on a new project using bottle traps baited with a small amount of meat to attract carrion-feeding species, the results of which will be analysed as part of a PhD thesis. You can help by running a trap and recording the flies caught, or sending the specimens in to the scheme.

All the details needed are available on the recording scheme page within this website. On that page there are also new posters to download, introducing the scheme and providing a guide to species of importance in forensics.
